Louise Misha

Louise Misha was born in Paris in 2012, from the imagination of Marie Pidancet, who dreamed of bringing poetry to her nieces' wardrobes. Imbued with a love for the Indian hand and great stylistic freedom, Louise Misha pieces are rich in detail, making them so singular. With the help of her childhood friend and associate Claire Moulin, the brand, still independent today, is distributed worldwide. Yet it remains a human-scale company with a strong family spirit.

Can you introduce Louise Misha in your own words?

MARIE: Louise Misha is a lifestyle brand for women, children and the home that cultivates a bohemian spirit. Bohemia is embodied by a mix of styles and eras, precious details that highlight traditional skills, and floral prints inspired by India, a reminder of my admiration for this country that I love so much. I want Louise Misha to be a bubble of softness and light for women.

Tell us about the origins of Louise Misha

MARIE: Louise Misha is a brand that was born with little means but with a real vision and a very assertive bohemian universe. We started with a jewellery line, which enabled us to finance the purchase of fabrics to launch the children's line. French and international boutiques were very enthusiastic about our first collections. Then customers started asking for women's clothing. We launched the women's line in 2016 and then the home line in 2020. To date, we've been lucky enough to enjoy very strong organic growth. With Claire, my childhood friend and partner, we're living the adventure today with 40 fantastic people, and workshops and partners who are close to our hearts.

What triggered the launch of the brand at the time?

MARIE: I created Louise Misha in 2012 after 7 years working for various women's fashion brands. I had a growing desire to create something more personal, I wanted to unfold my own universe. Above all, I had a great need for freedom. Seeing my nieces grow up, with whom I'm very close, was also a trigger: I dreamt of dressing them.

What is the creative process like at Louise Misha?

MARIE: Each collection is a new journey. I always want to tell a story that's as personal as possible. On a daily basis, I collect lots of photos of materials and colours that I put together in my (many) notebooks. This is the starting point for a collection. Then we put our ideas together with the team and present the designs in our workshops. This is followed by a long period of discussion before we come up with the final prototypes. The shoot tells the whole story, it's a decisive and very intense moment when all the work comes to life. The image is very important to Louise Misha, almost as important as the garment.

What is the house's iconic model?

MARIE: For the women's line, I'd simply go for the Bayo swimming costume, which has been iconic for years, shaping the figure with its retro cut and little ruffles on the thighs. And I'm very proud that all our women's and girls' swimwear is made from recycled materials.
Recently, it's been our patchwork jackets that have been popular season after season, with their removable sleeves.
In the children's line, I'd probably also mention the little Astrid or Teliani quilted jackets, which we use in our prints and which are so unique.

How much of your own personality does Louise Misha have?

MARIE : Louise Misha is a bohemian brand. I try to convey this spirit through Louise Misha's pieces and images. I'm someone who has a great need for freedom, to break away from existing codes. I travel a lot and my travels are a great source of inspiration. I'm very curious and I'm passionate about painting and creativity in general. Finally, I'd say that Louise Misha is a plurality of femininity, with which I identify, being a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a friend.

What role does vintage play in your personal wardrobe?

MARIE: For several years now my wardrobe has been essentially, if not 100% made up of Louise Misha pieces! Vintage mainly plays a role in our inspirations and in our research for collections. On the other hand, in my interior, particularly in my new holiday home in Saignon in the Luberon, vintage has its rightful place, between the antique curtains and the second-hand furniture that brings its own soul and history.

How do you make your teams aware of the environmental issues involved in fashion?

MARIE: We have an increasingly reasoned approach to various aspects:
the quality of materials and the importance of the durability of each piece.
Whenever possible, we give priority to organic and recycled materials.
The emancipation of women: we are proud of our first capsule with Saheli Women, this exceptional ethical workshop in India which aims to emancipate the women who work there and which passes on exceptional know-how.

What are your CSR objectives for 2025?

MARIE: By 2025, we aim to produce 100% of our garments in non-natural materials from recycled fibres.
